After the dog fighting scandal, the Atlanta Falcons wanted to recoup 16 million paid to then quarterback, Michael Vick. Well, a judge on Tuesday ruled that Mike gets to keep the bonuses. When you come to think of it, he probably has already spent that money on lawyers, so Atlanta might as well see it as water underneath the bridge.
The quarterback, who took his first regular-season pro snap just two weeks ago after serving 18 months in prison, is partnering with BET for a new eight-part docu-series scheduled to air early next year. The program, tentatively titled “The Michael Vick Project,” spotlights his controversial comeback with the Philadelphia Eagles while also examining his tumultuous past — including his troubled childhood and his 2007 arrest for running a dogfighting ring.
“I just want people to really get to know me as an individual,” Vick said last week in an interview from his home in Philadelphia. “What I want to do is change the perception of me. I am a human being. I’ve made some mistakes in the past, and I wish it had never happened. But it’s not about how you fall, but about how you pick yourself up.”
I pray that it portrays him in a positive light, but most importantly, I hope that he has learned from his actions. Time will tell, but (sigh) yes I will be tuning in…
Michael Vick seems to be on the right track to playing again:
DECATUR, Ga. — Michael Vick returned to the area that once celebrated his brilliant play on the football field, this time for the first of what he hopes will be dozens of appearances around the country to urge low-income youths to avoid the tragic trail left by dogfighting.
Few got to hear Saturday’s message, however.
Vick’s visit to a suburban Atlanta community center was largely off limits to the very neighborhood it was supposed to be helping. In an agreement between Vick’s handlers and the Humane Society of the United States, only 55 people and one media crew were allowed inside. An Associated Press reporter, videographer and photographer were among the media banished from the property by police.
Most people who live in the largely black neighborhood southeast of Atlanta were unaware of Vick’s appearance. Several showed up after the former Falcons quarterback had already left in a black limousine
I look forward to see how he will do this season. Does anyone notice when athletes are in trouble, they play their asses off? When Kobe was going through the rape trial, he was playing on the court like his not guilt verdict depended on it. Do you remember when Ray Lewis was charged with second degree murder for a shooting down her in Atlanta? He won the superbowl the next year. I’m just saying…

Michael Vick is out of prison and has returned home to Virginia where he will serve the remainder of his time at home:
An attorney for Michael Vick says the suspended NFL star has left a Kansas prison and is on his way back to Virginia to meet the next challenges he’ll face.
Larry Woodward, a member of Vick’s legal team, says Vick left the federal penitentiary at Leavenworth overnight. Woodward says Vick is happy to be starting this part of the process. He’s due to return to Virginia later this week to begin serving the final two months of his sentence under home confinement at a home he owns in Hampton.
Vick had been serving a 23-month sentence for financing a dogfighting ring.
The man has done his time, let him move on with his life…
The former Atlanta quarterback is currently serving a 23-month sentence at the federal penitentiary in Leavenworth, Kan., after pleading guilty to bankrolling a dogfighting operation at a home he owned in eastern Virginia’s Surry County.
Vick was set to go to a halfway house to fulfill the rest of the sentence. However, all of the halfway houses are overcrowded and Vick has been granted permission to serve the rest of his sentence at his home in Hampton, VA on or after May 21.
Vick will be on electronic monitoring and confined to the house, only allowed to leave for activities approved by his probation officer.
