Marie Osmond’s son Michael Blosil died Friday night in Los Angeles after leaping to his death from his eighth floor apartment. He left a note as described towards the bottom of this story saying he intended to commit suicide after a life-long battle with depression. He was 18.
Blosil was a student at The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, the school on the LA season of “Project Runway” and on “The Hills.” Police responded to a call shortly before 10 pm.
Michael had struggled with depression and in 2007, at age 16, he went to rehab for undisclosed reasons. His friends and rommates told authorities on Saturday that he was clean and sober at the time of his death
Depression is no joke. Please seek professional help if you are suicidal. We have all experienced very tough times in our lives, but each day is a clean start for each of us. Be happy with what you have, and try to see the glass as being half full. I wish all affected by the tragedy the best.
Chile is the next country affected by a terrible earthquake:
Authorities put the death toll from Saturday’s magnitude-8.8 quake at about 300, but believed the number would grow. They said 1.5 million Chileans were affected and 500,000 homes severely damaged by the mammoth temblor.
A tsunami caused by the quake that swept across the Pacific killed several people on a Chilean island and devastated over coastal communities near the epicenter, but caused little damage in other countries, after precautionary evacuations of hundreds of thousands of people. The tsunami warning was lifted a day after the earthquake.
President Michelle Bachelet, who leaves office March 11, declared a “state of catastrophe” in central Chile. “It was a catastrophe of devastating consequences,” she said.
Officials said earlier they had counted 214 dead, but more victims were being found. “At the moment there are some 300 fatalities,” Jose Abumohor, a duty chief at the National Emergency Agency, said Sunday.

Rihanna brought media attention to Jasmina as she suffered from leukemia. Rihanna visited her in the hospital, sent out public statements to find her a bone marrow donor, and had Jasmina come to her signing event just a few months ago. Unfortunately, she lost her battle to cancer a month ago and her mother has a question for Rihanna:
Terius Gray, the New Orleans-born rapper known as Juvenile, was arrested by St. Bernard Parish deputies Thursday on marijuana possession charges.
Gray and a man identified by deputies as his producer, Leroy Edwards, were arrested at a home in Arabi around 6 p.m., according to Steve Cannizaro, a sheriff’s office spokesman. Cannizaro said the home had been used as a recording studio by Gray.
A complaint about a strong odor of marijuana coming from the home led deputies to the scene, just after 3 p.m., Cannizaro said. He said Edwards and Gray allowed deputies to search the home with a warrant. Once inside the deputies said they found a half ounce of marjuana, Canizaro said.
Gray, 34, was booked on misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and released from the parish jail.
This is not the first time the rap performer has been arrested on drug charges. He was arrested in 2003 by New Orleans Police.
