A new CBS/NYT polls has more Americans questioning Sarah Palin readiness:
A growing number of voters have concluded that Senator John McCain’s running mate, Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska, is not qualified to be vice president, weighing down the Republican ticket in the last days of the campaign, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll.
All told, 59 percent of voters surveyed said Ms. Palin was not prepared for the job, up nine percentage points since the beginning of the month. Nearly a third of voters polled said the vice-presidential selection would be a major factor influencing their vote for president, and those voters broadly favor Senator Barack Obama, the Democratic nominee.
The real question is, what is wrong with the 41% that still supports her? Listen, if you disagree with Sen Obama and his platform, by all means continue to support Sen McCain. However, there are dozens of supremely qualified republican women who can wipe the floor with Sarah Palin and her intellect.
I want to give credit where credit is due. She is a self made women. She did not rise off of daddies money or her last name. She made herself a council women, a mayor, and then a governor- So hats off for that because that is no easy feat. In addition, she does seem comfortable with regional issues and issues that matter to Alaskans, but it is downhill from there. She is insular, inarticulate, and not only does she not know or understand the issues, I believe she could care less about issues.
Put yourself in Palin shoes. If you were in the national spotlight, wouldn’t you go out of your way to become well-versed on the issues that most Americans are concerned about? Of course; however Palin does not know or care, she is as ignorant as the day she stepped on the scene. She is not ready and those who swear up and down that she is (she has executive experience they say; well I say look how much executive experience GWB had?) are not only doing themselves a disfavor, but also the conservative movement.
By winning in a landslide on Tuesday, Obama not only will restore America’s reputation, but he might also do the republican party a favor by forcing them to reexamine what their principles are; lets hope that happens
